Corrections, Retraction Notes, Expressions of Concern
Correction and retraction notes should be easily linked to the respective publication and include some crucial information, e.g., reference to the corrected/retracted article(s). Authorship roles might also be special etc.
This might be relevant background information and initiatives:
– A Communication of Retractions, Removals, and Expressions of Concern (CORREC) Recommended Practice has been approved by NISO Voting Members
– Recommendations from the Reducing the Inadvertent Spread of Retracted Science: Shaping a Research and Implementation Agenda Project
To add support to this recommendation, I co-chair the NISO WG that Armin mentions on the downstream communication of information about retractions: https://www.niso.org/standards-committees/crec.
We hope to release our recommended practice later this year. This will include recommended metadata fields related to retractions and we want to alert relevant schema creators/providers to those. We’d be happy to share those so that they can be considered for inclusion in JATS4R recommendations.
